Welcome to my blog! I'm Emily and I'll be spending most of 2014 (February-December) volunteering with SIBAT, a small NGO in the Philippines. The focus of the NGO is renewable energy, and bringing sustainable technologies to rural communities throughout the country. They also aim to increase sustainable agricultural practices by running an organic farm north of Manila and by spreading information about best practices.
My boyfriend Nathan is here with me, volunteering as well. You can read his blog here.

This trip would not have been possible without the generosity of my friends and family, and I'd like to especially thank my community group from City Church San Francisco for their unending support, prayer and encouragement. Many members of my family also contributed with open hands and hearts, and I feel so blessed to have been surrounded by such incredible love and kindness as I prepared for this journey!
